As my plant collection continued to expand (and interest from others grew), so did my need for space. In June 2024, we constructed a beautiful all-glass greenhouse on our property using old barn windows. This upcycled design not only gave the greenhouse a rustic charm, but also provided my plants with plenty of natural sunlight. Finally, I had a dedicated space where my plants could truly thrive beyond the confines of my home.
By the fall of 2024, I was ready to take another big step. In November 2024, I opened the doors to Planty Things, my very own storefront in Pine Bush, NY. It was both exciting and a bit surreal to see my passion take shape as a real shop in town. Now I had a space where anyone could come in, talk plants, and find a new green friend to take home.
Inside Planty Things, I grow and sell all kinds of houseplants—ranging from familiar, easy-care varieties to rare exotic species. Propagating these plants and helping them grow can be challenging at times, but once a plant is well-established, it becomes easy to care for. I give each plant personalized attention, adjusting water levels and tweaking humidity to meet its needs. My goal is to make sure every plant is thriving, because I truly believe that happy plants make happy homes.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been the community it created. I love making new
“plant friends”—both the people who love houseplants and the little green friends themselves! Hosting
plant workshops is one way I connect with fellow plant enthusiasts and share the tips and tricks I’ve
learned. I’m always excited to swap stories, answer questions, and basically geek out about plants with
anyone who will listen.
I also offer one-on-one consultations to help people green up their spaces. It’s such a joy to help a
client pick out the perfect plant for their home or brainstorm how to transform their living room into a lush indoor jungle. Whether it’s choosing a low-light plant for a cozy corner or designing an entire wall of greenery, I get a thrill out of helping others create their own plant-filled sanctuaries.
In the end, I’m grateful that my little hobby got out of hand. It led me to a fulfilling new path where I get to do what I love—surrounded by greenery and fellow plant lovers—every single day.

My hobby was truly getting out of hand. What started as a few potted plants had taken over every room of my house. I even set up a small greenhouse to accommodate them, yet I still needed more room to grow.
I never planned to turn my passion into a business, and I certainly don’t have a fancy horticulture degree hanging on the wall. Everything I know about plants, I taught myself through years of hands-on experience. In fact, the idea to start selling plants happened almost by accident. Friends and even strangers who saw my thriving indoor jungle would ask if I ever sold any of my plants. Their curiosity planted a seed in my mind—maybe I could share my plants with others.
In March 2024, I took the leap and officially became a New York State licensed nursery. With the proper credentials in hand, I started selling my plants at local street fairs, farmers markets, and pop-up events around town. It was exhilarating to see people light up when they took home one of my plants. My hobby was growing into something more—something I could share with my community.
